This wonderful Folklore Museum has been developed by a small association of 52 people. The aim of the association is to find a more suitable property ( preferably a Neoclassical building), in order to accommodate all the exhibits which are presently found in a shop in the Kato Platano area of Istiaia. 

In the Folklore Museum you can find, other than everyday objects, men and women’s clothing from Istiaia (or Xirohori as it was called) and were of an urban style, national outfits from the surrounding villages, undergarments of the period, objects for urban use, medicine and medical tools of previous periods, paperwork and judicial decisions, the financial correspondence of Ioannis Oikonomou, grants of freedom from Prime Minister El.Venizelos towards the refugees of Asia Minor, an abundance of photographs, crafts by prisoners during the dictatorship and much more as can be seen in the video.
