Outside the village of Agia Anna, three kilometers to the West, in a mountainous area we find the well-known ravine of “Boulovinaina”. History claims that during the Greek Revolution of 1821, a woman called Boulovinaina attempted to escape the Turks by falling into the Ravine which in turn took her name.

Specifically, it is said that during the Turkish conquest, in a cavern in the ravine, around 40 people hid from the Turks, one of which was Boulovinaina. For some reason she left the ravine and as she returned was seen by the Turks. In order to avoid being captured and giving away the hiding place of the others, she fell into the ravine. 
Along the ravine, flows the river Nileas, which wells from mount Xiros. The ravine is only 3km away from Agia Anna and the visitor can reach it through the village of Paliovrisi.
The ravine is also called Arapis (negro). Possibly this name was derived from the legend that the sheep that drank water by the banks of Nilea river gave birth to black lambs.
